Chief Executive Officer

NASW Assurance Services, Inc. (ASI)

Frederick, MD 21701

NASW Assurance Services, Inc. (ASI) is seeking a visionary and adaptive Chief Executive Officer to lead a mission-aligned, for-profit enterprise serving one of the most trusted professional communities in the country, social workers. As a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Association of Social Workers, ASI plays a critical role in delivering high-quality insurance and risk management solutions that protect and empower professionals dedicated to improving lives and advancing social justice.

This is a unique opportunity to lead at the intersection of purpose and performance, where business strategy directly supports a broader mission grounded in equity, access, and service.

The CEO will provide strategic, financial, and operational leadership for ASI, guiding the organization through a dynamic and increasingly competitive insurance landscape. This leader will be responsible for driving sustainable growth, strengthening partnerships, and expanding member engagement while ensuring operational excellence across a largely outsourced business model. Central to this work is a commitment to ensuring that ASI’s products, partnerships, and practices are responsive to the diverse and evolving needs of social workers across communities and practice settings.

Success in this role will require balancing innovation with discipline, and enterprise growth with mission alignment. The CEO will be expected to lead with a lens toward equity, identifying opportunities to reduce barriers, expand access, and ensure that business decisions reflect both financial strength and social responsibility.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in insurance, risk management, or financial services, along with a track record of leading organizations through complexity and change. They are a strategic thinker who can translate vision into execution, a collaborative partner who builds trust across stakeholders, and a decisive leader who is comfortable navigating both opportunity and risk.

Critically, the successful candidate will demonstrate a measurable and sustained commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion as a core leadership competency. This includes a track record of embedding DEI principles into organizational strategy, influencing decision-making processes, advancing equitable outcomes, and fostering inclusive, high-performing cultures. The CEO will be expected to lead with cultural humility, hold themselves and others accountable, and ensure that equity considerations are integrated into both business performance and organizational culture.

This leader will work closely with the NASW parent organization, requiring strong alignment with the values and priorities of the social work profession, including its long-standing commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. They will play a key role in driving membership value and growth, ensuring that ASI’s offerings remain relevant, competitive, and responsive to the needs of a diverse national membership.
