About the Opportunity:
The Senior Director of Development at Movement Voter Project (MVP) is a strategic and visionary leadership role, central to driving MVP's fundraising initiatives and enhancing our ability to support critical grassroots organizing across the country. This position offers the unique opportunity to lead a passionate team in securing the resources necessary for MVP to continue its impactful work in empowering local groups and shaping the political landscape. The successful candidate will spearhead our development efforts, crafting innovative fundraising strategies, expanding our donor base, and building lasting relationships with philanthropic partners, all while working closely with our dynamic team to ensure alignment with MVP's overarching goals and mission.

Movement Voter Project supports local organizing to win elections and transform policy by advising, organizing, and inspiring donors.

About the Ideal Candidate:
The Senior Director of Development is a key leadership role with a primary focus on the strategy, planning, and management of all fundraising and donor relations activities. Reporting to the Executive Director, this individual must be a persuasive leader, capable of managing a large team consisting of multiple sub-teams, and adept at budgeting and financial management. The ideal candidate for this role is a highly motivated and experienced development professional with a strong background in leading fundraising strategies and managing diverse teams and operations, as well as understanding of the regulatory and strategic differences in fundraising for 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and PAC organizations. This individual possesses a deep passion for social and political change, with a keen understanding of the landscape in which MVP operates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive, results-oriented annual development plan that specifies targets and strategies, and lead staff to execute the plan successfully.
  • Lead and manage a team of staff and consultants that raise funds primarily through major gifts, foundations, and volunteer donor organizing. 
  • Work with the Executive Director to strategically set annual revenue goals that grow and diversify revenue streams and align with the strategic plan.
  • Establish performance measures; monitor and report results.
  • Cutivate, secure, and manage high-level donor relationships and partnerships.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a successful track record of significantly increasing revenue.
  • Strong results-driven leadership skills, with experience managing and growing a development team.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and secure seven-figure gifts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of inspiring staff and donors alike, and effectively conveying MVP's mission and impact to a wider audience.
  • Strategic thinker with a commitment to MVP's values and a deep understanding of the political and social justice landscape.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing organizational change, with the ability to adapt strategies and teams to evolving circumstances and opportunities. 

Compensation: $170,000-$185,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Offering generous and comprehensive benefits.
