Director of Economic Development (REACH Riverside)
Are you a visionary leader with a passion for transforming communities? We’re seeking a
Director of Economic Development to play a pivotal role in revitalizing the Riverside
community and surrounding areas. In this exciting position, you’ll lead the charge on
redevelopment projects, affordable housing initiatives, and workforce development, all while
enhancing the local economy and expanding the tax base.
As the Director of Economic Development, you’ll be responsible for planning and implementing
key community development activities, including blight remediation, public facility
improvements, and real estate projects. You’ll work closely with major employers, businesses,
and local government to drive economic growth and position the City of Wilmington’s northeast
corridor as a vibrant hub for living, working, and business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Community Redevelopment & Planning: Lead efforts to implement the community redevelopment master plan, working with partners to conceptualize and manage public/private development strategies.
- Affordable Housing & Blight Remediation: Facilitate the development of affordable housing and remediate blighted areas to create equitable living conditions.
- Workforce Development: Oversee job training and placement programs while coordinating contracts that support workforce growth.
- Project Management: Manage projects from funding applications through construction and financing, ensuring successful execution.
- Compliance & Regulation: Ensure compliance with building, housing, and zoning codes, as well as federal and state funding requirements.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison with businesses, government agencies, and the community to cultivate partnerships and drive community growth.
Compensation
- This is an exempt salaried position with a range of $90,000 - $110,000 annually.
You’ll also conduct market analysis, track active projects, and collaborate on policy
development to foster community and economic development. As a leader, you’ll guide a team
and oversee contractors to ensure the successful implementation of long-term plans for the
community’s future.
