Summary:
Assist classroom teacher in all aspects involving instruction, documenting progress, and safety of students.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School graduate and New York State Certification as a Teacher Assistant.
Supervisory Role:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Principal Responsibilities:
The below enumerated principal responsibilities are inclusive of both program specific and firm-wide related administration, as applicable.
- Work with individual children or groups of children on special instructional projects and activities as planned in conjunction with the teacher.
- Work cooperatively as member of team assisting in related instructional work as required; and assisting pupils in the use of available instructional resources and the development of instructional materials.
- Write individual anecdotal records and/or keep record of discrete trial instruction of students by providing the teacher with information about the children that will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning experiences.
- Meet with teacher to plan instructional activities and materials thereby utilizing their own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and similar subjects.
- Escort students to and from the school buses at arrival and dismissal time. Escort students throughout the building outside of the classroom.
- Communicate with parents verbally and in writing under the direction of the teacher, or in absence of the teacher.
- Participate in staff development activities.
- Attend team meeting conferences as appropriate.
- Follow policies and procedures of school.
- Perform other related duties as requested.

- Group activities are planned and conducted efficiently.

- Children's progress is appropriately document.
- Daily activities are well planned and coordinated.
- Students arrive promptly to their classes and safety of children is maintained in the building.
- Open communication is promoted between teachers and parents.
- Staff is appropriately trained.
- Essential conferences are attended.
- Policies and procedures are strictly followed.
- All other related tasks are completed on time and accurately.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of the job, the employee will be in a classroom and school environment.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to have visual acuity, talk and hear while communicating with peers and/or vendors. This position is active and requires movement in the classroom and in the school environment. The employee must occasionally lift or move student weighing over 30 pounds.

This is a full – time position.
